The main operations are being carried out on three overpasses that will form part of the city of Kaliningrad’s largest transport system. The overall length of the bridges across the Staraya Pregolya and Novaya Pregolya rivers, overpasses, overhead crossings and traffic interchanges is 1883 m. The Company is simultaneously performing work at 9 jobsites.
This year, SpetsMost LLC (SK MOST Group) will commission the overpass to Moskovsky Prospekt from 9th April St. The scope of work includes construction of foundations, piers and a continuous cast-in-place deck. To date, 37 bored piles (Ø1200 mm, depth 11-18 m) have been erected, and 1,500 m3 of concrete have been poured into the piers.
The installation of 122 bored piles 11-13 m long on the overpass between Moskovsky Prospekt and the Novaya Pregolya River is scheduled for this year. To date, 48 bored piles (Ø1200 mm, depth 11-13 m) have already been installed, and approx. 400 m3 of concrete have been poured.
Concreting of the deck slab is underway on the overpass at the island between the Novaya Pregolya and Staraya Pregolya rivers. Half of the total scope of work was completed in by the end of August 2010. Moreover, 4,000 t of steel structures and 21 bored pile-based piers have been assembled since the beginning of the year.
The project is scheduled for commissioning in 2011.
The new bridges, overhead crossings, overpasses and traffic interchanges should take the load off the city’s streets and connect the port with the main regional highways and federal routes. Construction of the bridge began in 1985, but was suspended in 1992. The incomplete project was assigned to SpetsMost in 2006. Within the next two years the Company dismantled the old reinforced concrete structures, erected new piers and assembled steel decks. Then, project financing was suspended and construction was frozen once again in 2008. Large-scale construction of the bridge crossing was restarted this year when government financing was resumed.
