A design case for construction of a combined motorway and railway tunnel under the Lena River was developed by the OJSC USK MOST. The design suggests building a tunnel 8,347-meters long on the site between Nizhny Bestyakh and Yakutsk. Compared to the alternative tunnel design on Tabaga site, the USK MOST design provides for construction of 11 kilometers of the railway tracks instead of 114 kilometers, which will reduce the cost and expedite project implementation.
The IV Transport Congress with participation of specialists from Russian and foreign construction companies was held within the framework of the business program of the InterTunnel 2011 International Exhibition, which took place in Moscow from March 16th to 18th.
