Reconstruction of Two Overpasses Completed on Privolzhsky Railway Line

Picture Stories

Two overpasses for the even and odd numbered tracks have been put in permanent service at the 1071st km mark of Privolzhsky Railway Line in Volgograd.

The reconstruction project was started in November 2010, and the builders have completed a large scope of work of removing the old structures and building new ones. Finishing operations are underway on the project, which are to be completed before 15th of June. The builders are almost finished with the concreting of a small part of the slope, they install water diversion raceways and landscape the adjoining area.

Fierce battles between the Soviet Army units and Hitler’s coalition forces took place here during the World War II. The builders found a lot of rusty ordinances and weapon parts during the earthmoving operations. Combat engineers were called on many occasions, but the work has been done without emergencies. The new overpasses have been commissioned on time, just before the summer vacations.
