Picture Stories

The left hand interstation tunnel in Lermontovsky Prospekt – Vykhino Section that is under construction as part of Taganskaya – Krasnopresnenskaya Subway Line has been driven by more than one-half. Vykhino – Lermontovsky Prospekt Section is 1,777.4-meter long. Herrenknecht-736 Tunneling System has driven 1,010 meters of tunnel by early September. Permanent lining installation is carried out simultaneously; the builders install an average of six concrete rings per shift or 1.4 equivalent meters of lining. Each ring is composed of seven reinforced concrete segments, which are installed by a tunnel lining machine.

The tunnel lining machine that is part of the Herrenknecht Tunneling System is controlled by an operator from a special control panel. The driving of the left hand interstation tunnel started after the tunneling system had been delivered and assembled on Lermontovsky Prospekt Station construction site. The tunneling is scheduled for completion in October – November 2012.
