The driving of the left interstation tunnel of the Lermontovsky Prospekt – Zhulebino section on the Taganskaya-Krasnopresnenskaya Moscow subway Line has been completed.

The tunneling operations have been conducted since April 2012 from the Zhulebino station using the Lovat RME-242SE Tunnel Boring Machine. The tunnel is 1590.4 meters long and runs at an average depth of 20 meters. The average tunneling speed was 250 meters per month.

This is the second tunnel in the Vykhino – Kotelniki section under construction were the tunneling has been completed. Connection of the left interstation tunnel in the Vykhino – Lermontovsky Prospekt section occurred in November 2012. All tunnels of the new Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya Line section are driven by using the tunnel-boring machines, which ensure the highest tunneling speed. Four state-of-the-art tunnel-boring machines at a time are operated here.

The Lermontovsky Prospekt and Zhulebino stations are scheduled for opening in autumn of 2013.
