Rework of the Top Part (Cap) of the Roki Tunnel Nears Completion in the North Caucasus

Units of the SK MOST Group of Companies are almost done with completion of the Roki Tunnel cap reworking. The builders will have to drive through the last leg of about 20 meters. They are conducting preparation for connection, which is scheduled for the middle of June.

The reworking of the 3,730.4-meter-long tunnel began in May last year. The tunnel cap has been reworked simultaneously at six faces, moving four ATM105 mining machines from both the northern and southern tunnel entries.

The bottom part of the tunnel has been driven using two ATM105 mining machines at two faces, on the northern and southern tunnel entry sides, respectively. A total of 3,067 meters of the bottom part was driven by early July. As per the schedule, the reworking of the tunnel bottom part must be completed in September 2013 the latest.

Waterproofing and reinforcement cage installation and the concreting of the permanent tunnel lining have been conducted simultaneously, moving from both the northern and southern tunnel entries. As of to date, the permanent lining has been completed on the invert arch, over a total length of 1,834 meters, as well as on the walls and roof, over a total length of 1,265 meters.

The concreting has been completed on the northern tunnel entry. The builders began erecting the southern tunnel entry structures.
