Assembly of Paired Span Structures for a Bridge Over the Don River Nears Completion

A second paired span structure assembly is almost completed on a building slip at the Tsimlyansk Reservoir for a bridge over the Don River at the 280th kilometer of the Morozovskaya-Volgograd Section of the Privolzhskaya Railway. The builders of the LLC UFSK Most are erecting four bridge pillars simultaneously with steel structure installation. Six other pillars have been already put in place.

A span structure (2×77 meters) for installation in spans 2-3-4 has been completely assembled. Assembly of the second paired span structure for pillars 4-5-6 is almost completed. The builders are installing inspection facilities and conduct painting of the span structure assemblies. The paired span structures installation using floating equipment is scheduled for the end of the year. The barges are now being outfitted.

The builders are erecting four channel pillars simultaneously with installation of the steel structures. Six other supports (Nos. 1, 2, 5, 6, 9, and 10) have been already completed. Span structures that are 33.6 meters long have been installed on the abutments.

The pillar body concreting is carried out on pillars Nos. 3 and number 4. A drilled pile footing with 1,720 mm diameter piles is erected for pillar No. 8, and eleven out of twenty piles have been already put in place.

Preparation for river bank consolidation is underway on the right bank. A roadbed has been almost completed here, at the bridge approaches.

The bridge construction work was started in November 2011. The new bridge is scheduled to be commissioned in late 2015. The old bridge will then be removed. The entire project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2017.
