The first international railway bridge Russia-China is connected!

Specialists of the SK MOST Group installed and fixed the last span of the cross-border bridge over the Amur river in the design position, so the bridge crossing is completely closed.

On March 20, 2019, in the Jewish Autonomous region of Russia, bridge builders of the SK Most Group of companies together with Chinese specialists docked both parts of a cross-border railway bridge over the Amur river. The last steel structure of the superstructure was installed in a permanent position between supports #3 and #4, which actually means that it is fully docked. This was a truly historic event for the two countries.

The railway bridge over the Amur river on the Russian-Chinese border is the first cross-border bridge between China and Russia. The bridge is located between the village of Nizhneleninskoye in the Jewish Autonomous region of Russia and the island of Huidao city County, Tongjiang city Jiamusi China, which lie on opposite banks of the Amur river.

The total length of the bridge, which Russia and China have been building together for several years, is 2209 meters, 309 meters of which are being built by the Russian side. Our builders are also engaged in the construction of several kilometers of access roads, the construction of a new railway station “Leninsk-2” and the reconstruction of the existing railway station “Leninsk”.

Now the bridge workers will have to mount the slabs of the bridge bed, and then lay the railway tracks. In parallel, work will begin on the bridge’s engineering systems.

The bridge crossing over the Amur Nizhneleninskoe (EAO) – Tongjiang (Heilongjiang province, China) is designed as a single-track railway bridge. One of the main features of the bridge is the “two-track structure”. It is designed for alternate passage of trains on railway tracks of different gauge: with a width of 1520 mm for Russian rolling stock and 1435 mm for Chinese.

The shortest transport route from Russia to China via the new bridge will deliver the products of the kimkan-sutar processing plant, iron ore, coal, mineral fertilizers, forest products and other goods, while construction materials, agricultural machinery and food will be imported. The expected capacity of the bridge will be 21 million tons of cargo annually.

On the Russian side, the construction is being carried out by the SK Most Group of companies. On the Chinese side, the construction is led by China Investment Corporation (CIC). Customer Rubicon LLC. The construction is funded by the Far East Development Fund (FDD) and the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).
