Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin highly appreciated the work of specialists of SK MOST Group and expressed gratitude for the construction of the first cross-border road bridge between Russia and China

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin visited the first cross-border road bridge over the Amur river between Russia and China during a working trip to the far East.

“I would like to sincerely congratulate you on this project! You will be proud of this project and tell your children and grandchildren about it. It’s probably great that we were able to take part in such a construction project. And this is a completely new way of looking at the relations between our countries.this is a powerful transport artery that will allow you to move about 2 million people and 4 million tons of cargo a year. I sincerely congratulate you and thank you for your selfless work,”

– the Prime Minister said.

Specialists of JSC USK MOST built the Russian part of the bridge over the Amur river, the bridge over the Kanikurganskaya Bayou and the connecting road between them. The Blagoveshchensk-Heihe bridge between Russia and China will increase the volume of cargo transportation and strengthen economic ties between the regions of the two countries.
The Prime Minister of the Russian Federation spoke with the builders, asked if there was a competition with the Chinese side and what difficulties the specialists faced during the project implementation. He also said that certificates of gratitude have already been issued for the builders.

“We have signed certificates of gratitude for the construction to all of you, which will be presented later by the Minister for the development of the Far East and the Arctic, Alexander Kozlov,”

– Mikhail Mishustin said.

Construction of the bridge began in late 2016. Its length is 1080 meters. Each side (Russian and Chinese) built a half – 540 meters. Parts were built synchronously from the two coasts, their docking took place on may 31, 2019. After that, work continued on both sides; the construction of the main stages of the bridge was completed in December 2019. The construction was carried out without attracting funds from the state budget of the Russian Federation under the concession model.

Interesting fact

  • The Blagoveshchensk-Heihe bridge is designed as a steel-reinforced concrete extradose bridge. Visually, it is similar to a cable-stayed bridge, but unlike the latter, the ropes of the Estrada bridge provide longitudinal compression of the sections of the superstructure, giving it additional strength in the support zones.
  • Since the construction of the bridge was carried out jointly by Russia and China, in order to avoid discrepancies, joint meetings were held several times a year on the design and construction of the bridge with the participation of builders and designers of the two countries.
