Meetings on the bridge construction involving contractors, the field-oriented deputy chairman and ministers under the governor are held every two weeks. The purpose is to maintain constant control and to provide a prompt solution to emerging problems.
“Our task is to complete the work on the installation of pile foundations of piers Nos. 10, 11, 12, 13 before the ice drift. The deadline is in April, then we will adjust according to the actual situation.” Also, he reported that currently four bridge piers Nos. 6, 23, 24 and 25 are 100% ready, pier No.26 is almost ready. “These piers are needed for the first stage of the launching of the superstructure that is a part of the left-bank bridge section, the operation is scheduled for April.”Eduard Davydov, the Head of the Zeya Branch Office of the USK MOST JSC, reported.
1,554 tons of metal structures for the superstructure were delivered to the site on the left bank. Bridge builders started their pre-assembly on the building berth. Work on the construction of bridge piers Nos.14 and 22 is in progress. The construction of a foundation pit is underway.
Five out of seven kilometers of approach roads are completely covered with a subgrade, on the remaining two kilometers of the route the work is being carried out actively.
“Our plan is to get out of the ground before spring, that is to strip topsoil and to fill the embankment of the subgrade which is 1.5-2 meters high,”said Eduard Davydov.
The facility currently employs 839 people, 163 units of equipment, including 83 units of specialized machinery, the rest of equipment is auxiliary.
“The bridge over the Zeya River is one of the most important construction facilities in the region. It is necessary to coordinate the work at all stages,”emphasized Vasily Orlov.
The new bridge will be the second one across the Zeya River near Blagoveshchensk. The bridge crossing design includes the construction of 26 piers and a cable-stayed structure. Its total length is 9 km, 2 km of which are for the bridge, and 7 km are approach roads. The construction is carried out in a kilometer from the existing bridge.
According to the project, the construction of the bridge will be completed in 42 months, the contractor intends to complete the work in 30 months, and it is planned to open the bridge to traffic by the end of 2022. Car traffic on the bridge will be arranged in one lane in each direction. According to preliminary estimates, the implementation of the project will decrease the traffic load on the existing bridge traffic by 40-60%.
